The Norton Award was designed by the Hall’s Board in 2022 as a way to honor newly inducted members of the Hall. The award itself is 76 mm (3 inches) in diameter and 4 mm thick.
The front of the award features an original design that takes its inspiration from two sources. The first of these is the Norton Dedication Plaque that was made in 1939 and can be found on display in the city of South San Francisco. The other source is the Micronational Olympics medals created in the early 2000’s of which Kevin Baugh of the Republic of Molossia was a designer.
The reverse of the award features the logo for the Micronational Hall of Excellence, which was designed in 2020 by Brendan Cook of Westarctica, Stephen Luke of Dracul, and Jordan Farmer of Westarctica. The end result is an award that was designed to afford recipients the choice of displaying it with either a modern or classic feel.
The first award of the Norton Medal took place on 6 August 2022, at an induction ceremony held during MicroCon 2022 in Las Vegas.
